Death Drives a Prius
We all have to adapt to the modernity of life in order to meet the demands of ease and efficiency. What if it was like that in death too?
In an age defined by gig work and apps, Death Drives a Prius imagines the Grim Reaper behind the wheel—ferrying three passengers who’ve just died but aren’t ready to face how. What begins as a darkly comic setup becomes a slow, haunting revelation of how ordinary choices ripple outward, binding these strangers through unseen consequences.
Inside the car’s confined space, the characters’ conversations expose how harm is normalized and accountability dispersed—a system where no one feels responsible even as lives are lost. Death isn’t a monster here; he’s a silent mirror, forcing each of them to confront the quiet, bureaucratic ways care collapses.
Combining elements of surreal comedy and moral reckoning, the film sits at the intersection of social realism and allegory. It invites audiences to reflect on empathy, systemic neglect, and the human cost of convenience—all while unfolding in a setting as familiar as a backseat ride on an endless road.
