FILM STUDENT

RANGE & RIGOR

Film has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, beginning with a childhood fascination that started when I was four years old. In middle school I began experimenting with two VCRs, teaching myself how to shoot and edit on VHS tapes, and by high school I was producing the daily morning video announcements, discovering how storytelling, technology, and collaboration could come together on screen. Those early projects sparked a lifelong commitment to visual storytelling that continues to drive my work today.

After high school I created and produced my own television show for public access cable in Tucson, Arizona, gaining hands-on experience in every stage of production from concept to final cut. That foundation led me into the U.S. Army, where I first served as an electronics maintainer and IT specialist, then transitioned into broadcast public affairs, creating radio and television content for service members and their families overseas. In that role I learned to tell impactful stories under pressure, covered news in combat environments, directed live broadcasts, and eventually managed the daily operations of a radio and television station serving an audience of 95,000 people.

Today, after retiring from the military, I am advancing my craft as a Film and Media Arts major at American University in Washington, D.C., focusing on narrative and documentary production. I bring together creativity, technical expertise with tools like Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, and Avid, and years of real-world experience leading teams in high-stakes environments. My goal is to be a versatile “one stop shop” for media creation—from planning and scripting to filming and editing—helping collaborators and clients turn their stories into compelling visual experiences.
